Depression and Low Mood
Depression can feel like heaviness, exhaustion, or a sense of being emotionally “flat” or shut down. It may be hard to get through daily routines, find motivation, or feel connected to things that once mattered. For some, it shows up as sadness, but for others, it feels more like numbness or simply not feeling like themselves.
We take time to understand how depression affects your energy, thoughts, relationships, and ability to function in everyday life. Each person’s experience is different, and we meet you where you are.
At Intersect Mental Wellness, we tailor depression treatment to your current energy, functioning, and day-to-day experience, taking things at a pace that feels supportive, steady, and manageable for you.
Depression is highly treatable. With thoughtful evaluation and evidence-based care, we help clients slowly regain energy, reconnect with their lives, and move toward a more stable and meaningful sense of well-being.
What care looks like at Intersect

Common reasons people reach out
- You feel emotionally numb or empty, and the things you used to enjoy just don't interest you right now
- You find yourself canceling plans, avoiding texts, and retreating into isolation because interacting feels like too much work
- You want to feel like yourself again, but you just can't seem to find the motivation or energy to take the first step, and the heavy fog won’t lift
- You spend all your energy pretending to be okay at work or around family, leaving you completely exhausted
Depression questions we are asked most
What if I feel too exhausted to even start receiving help?
It is completely okay if you only have a tiny bit of energy right now. You do not need to come to the sessions with a plan or talk more than necessary. Our practice is a soft landing place. There is no judgment, no rushing, and no pressure to perform. We will take things one very small, manageable step at a time, starting exactly where you are today.
Will I have to be on medication forever?
Medication can be an incredibly supportive tool to lift the fog so you can function again, but it is only one option. We will explore all of your options together, including lifestyle adjustments, sleep hygiene, and supportive therapies. Every decision is made in partnership with you, and our ultimate goal is always to find the path that helps you feel safest, healthiest, and most whole. If you take medication and your circumstances change, our clinician is a Certified Deprescriber, with the ability to ease you off safely.
Why don’t I want to do the things I used to enjoy, or be with my friends or loved ones?
When your energy is low, socializing—even with people you love—feels too overwhelming. It is not that you stop caring; your battery is just completely drained. We can explore gentle, guilt-free ways to stay connected with your circle without forcing yourself to perform when you need to rest.
Is telehealth effective for depression?
Research consistently finds telepsychiatry comparable to in-person care for depressive disorders. For many people it is easier to sustain, because there is no commute, no waiting room, and less scheduling friction — and consistency matters more than setting.
